How to use:
Soil improvement:
For general soil improvement, fork a 2.5cm (1") layer of Levington® Peat Free Farmyard Manure into the top 10cm (4") of soil.
Before sowing and planting:
Fork in Levington® Peat Free Farmyard Manure to the soil surface and to the bottom of the planting holes, drills and trenches for an abundant crop of flowers, fruit and vegetables.
For vegetable plots and allotments:
In spring spread a 5-8cm (2-3") layer of Levington® Peat Free Farmyard Manure over soil and dig in before sowing or planting. On heavy clay soils repeat when winter digging.
Established beds and Borders:
Spread a 5-8cm (2-3") layer of Levington® Peat Free Farmyard Manure beneath the branches of roses, shrubs, trees and bushes. Allow a 5-8cm (2-3") gap around stems. This 100% organic mulch will help the soil retain moisture, suppress weeds and release food to surrounding plants.
Plant invigoration:
In spring, apply a layer of Levington® Peat Free Farmyard Manure approximately 5-8cm (2-3") deep onto the clean soil around established herbaceous flowers, shrubs, fruit and vegetables and work into the soil surface. It will add nutrients for better yields and vital plant development.
For new lawns:
Spread a layer of Levington® Peat Free Farmyard Manure 5-8cm (2-3") deep onto clean soil and dig into the top 10-15cm (4-6") of soil for improved grass seed germination and quicker establishment of turf.

How to use
- PLANTING OUT: Water the plant thoroughly. Dig a hole twice as big as the root ball. Part fill the hole with a mix of 50% soil and 50% Levington® Peat Free Rose, Tree & Shrub Compost. Ensure the plant is at the same level as in the pot. To provide stability for taller plants a stake may be hammered into the ground and the plant loosely tied to it. Fill in firmly and water.
- WATERING: For best results ensure that the soil around the plant does not dry out in the first seasons. To help conserve water around precious plants, apply a mulch, such as Levington® Composted Bark. This will also suppress weeds.
- FEEDING: Levington® Peat Free Rose, Tree and Shrub compost contains season long feed for the first season, no feeding is required. We recommend that plants are fed with Miracle-Gro® Rose and Shrub Plant Food, so that they continue to grow with abundance in the following seasons.
Where to use
Rose, tree and shrub compost is ideal for Shrubs, Trees, Roses, Hedging Fruit Bushes, including ericaceous plants (acid loving, lime hating plants).
